A closer look to the timing of orchidopexy in undescended testes and adherence to the AWMF-guideline
Topic overview
This retrospective study of 2,694 orchidopexy cases distinguishes congenital from acquired undescended testis and finds that 24.9% of congenital cases were operated before 12 months, significantly higher than previously reported rates of 5-15%. Delayed referral to pediatric surgery was the primary barrier to guideline-adherent timing.
