Volume and function of the operated kidney after nephron-sparing surgery for unilateral renal tumor

Retrospective study of 12 children who underwent zero-ischemia nephron-sparing surgery for unilateral renal tumors demonstrates strong correlation between preserved kidney volume and function on DMSA scintigraphy. Patients retaining ≥40% of operated kidney function showed stable renal parameters during adolescent follow-up, supporting the viability of nephron-sparing approaches in pediatric renal oncology.
