This retrospective study of 114 neonates identifies defecation patterns as key predictors of feeding intolerance following primary anastomosis for intestinal atresia. Preterm infants face higher risk, and monitoring postoperative bowel movements can guide optimal timing for initiating feeds and predict gastrointestinal recovery.
