The impact of the recipient intestinal site on the differentiation of transplanted enteric neural crest cells

This mouse model study demonstrates that the intestinal microenvironment significantly affects transplanted enteric neural crest cell differentiation in Hirschsprung disease. Cells transplanted into distal aganglionic gut showed reduced neuronal differentiation compared to proximal sites, suggesting recipient site selection is critical for developing effective cell-based therapies.
