Correlation of ectopic distal location of papilla of Vater and clinical characteristics in pediatric choledochal cysts

This study of 327 pediatric choledochal cyst patients demonstrates that more distal ectopic location of the papilla of Vater correlates with larger cysts, younger age at presentation, higher prenatal detection rates, and more severe liver fibrosis. Findings suggest papillary location plays a key role in disease pathogenesis and severity.
