Short-term outcomes of thoracoscopic versus open lobectomy for congenital lung malformations

This multicenter study of 2,157 pediatric patients found thoracoscopic lobectomy for congenital lung malformations achieved similar 30-day safety outcomes to open surgery, with shorter hospital stays. Thoracoscopic adoption increased from 49% to 70% between 2013-2020, supporting its use as the preferred approach for non-emergent cases.
