Effect of prostaglandin-E1 treatment on pyloric wall thickness in newborns with ductal-dependent critical congenital heart diseases

This prospective study of 22 neonates found that one week of PGE1 infusion for ductal-dependent congenital heart disease significantly increased pyloric wall thickness and length, though patients remained asymptomatic. The findings suggest prolonged PGE1 use may predispose to gastric outlet obstruction.
