Anorectal manometry findings in relation with long-term functional outcomes of the patients operated on for Hirschsprung’s disease compared to the reference-based population

This cross-sectional study of 95 Hirschsprung disease patients found significantly higher rates of fecal incontinence (25.3%) and constipation (12.6%) compared to controls, with anorectal manometry revealing decreased anal resting pressures and reduced rectal capacity in incontinent patients. The findings support anorectal manometry as an objective tool for guiding postoperative management in patients with persistent defecation disorders.
