Reduction of recurrence by peritoneal thermal injury in laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure of internal ring for inguinal hernia in children

This comparative study of 653 pediatric patients demonstrates that adding peritoneal thermal injury to laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure significantly reduces inguinal hernia recurrence from 6.4% to 1.8% without increasing complications. The technique modification offers a safe method to improve long-term outcomes in pediatric hernia repair.
