The survival time of the ventriculo-peritoneal-shunt in children with hydrocephalus is dependent on the type of valve implanted

This 18-year retrospective study of 81 pediatric hydrocephalus patients found that valve type significantly impacts shunt survival, with pressure differential valves outlasting gravitational valves. Patient age and hydrocephalus etiology did not affect outcomes. Most patients required at least one shunt revision during follow-up.
