Evaluating the risk of peri-umbilical hernia after sutured or sutureless gastroschisis closure

This multi-center study of 375 gastroschisis patients found that peri-umbilical hernias occurred in 23% after closure, with higher rates following sutureless techniques. However, 39% closed spontaneously within 17 months, suggesting these hernias can be safely observed regardless of closure method used.
