Recurrence rates following ileo-colic resection in pediatric patients with Crohn’s disease
Topic overview
This retrospective study of 35 pediatric Crohn's disease patients found notably lower post-operative recurrence rates (11.4% at 2 years, 28.6% at 5 years) following ileo-colic resection compared to historical data. Early prophylactic anti-TNF therapy and close surveillance appear to reduce recurrence risk in the critical first years after surgery.
