Staged surgical approach of neonates with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula from low- and middle-income countries

This study demonstrates successful outcomes for neonates with EA/TEF from low- and middle-income countries using a staged approach with initial gastrostomy placement locally, followed by definitive repair in the U.S. through World Pediatric Project partnership. Results matched U.S.-born patients with the same condition, showing feasibility of international collaboration for complex neonatal surgical care.
