Antibiotic prophylaxis for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy in pediatric patients: a meta-analysis

This meta-analysis of 568 pediatric patients demonstrates that antibiotic prophylaxis during percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy reduces systemic infection rates by 54% but shows no significant impact on wound infections. The findings support selective antibiotic use in children undergoing PEG placement.
