Characteristics of ovarian necrosis in the neonatal ovarian tumor: a single-center retrospective study and review of literature

Retrospective study of 26 neonates with ovarian tumors found that ovarian necrosis was associated with smaller tumor size and elevated CRP levels. While 26% of torsed ovaries could be salvaged, the study suggests attempting ovarian detorsion in neonates to preserve residual ovarian function rather than immediate oophorectomy.
