The role of gastrostomy feeding during intestinal rehabilitation for children with short bowel syndrome

Retrospective study of 36 children with short bowel syndrome finds no significant advantage of gastrostomy tube feeding in achieving enteral autonomy or reducing parenteral nutrition duration, despite two-thirds experiencing G-tube complications. Residual bowel length was the primary predictor of nutritional independence.
