Outcomes following two-stage surgical approaches in the treatment of pediatric ulcerative colitis

Retrospective study comparing two-stage surgical approaches for pediatric ulcerative colitis found similar functional outcomes between traditional IPAA with diverting stoma (TIPAA) and subtotal colectomy followed by completion proctectomy without stoma (NIPAA). NIPAA patients required fewer antidiarrheal medications, though continence, complications, and pouchitis rates were comparable between groups.
