Usefulness of hepatobiliary scintigraphy for predicting late complications in patients with choledochal cysts

Long-term study of 108 pediatric choledochal cyst patients found that postoperative biliary cholestasis detected on hepatobiliary scintigraphy significantly predicted cholangitis risk but not hepatolithiasis. Patients showing cholestasis on scintigraphy require enhanced surveillance for infectious complications.
