Clinical outcomes following identification of tip appendicitis on ultrasonography and CT scan

Retrospective study of 55 pediatric patients found that radiographic diagnosis of tip appendicitis had low correlation with pathologic appendicitis—only 9 of 21 operated patients had confirmed disease. Findings suggest clinical judgment should guide management decisions rather than relying solely on imaging findings of tip appendicitis.
