Fundoplication without esophagocrural sutures: Long-term follow-up of a randomized clinical trial

Long-term follow-up study (median 8.7 years) of 70 pediatric fundoplication patients demonstrates that omitting esophagocrural sutures when no esophageal dissection is performed results in equivalent outcomes to standard technique. No wrap herniation occurred in either group, and rates of reflux symptoms and complications remained similar, supporting a simplified surgical approach.
