Videofluoroscopy compared with clinical feeding evaluation in children with suspected aspiration

Retrospective study of 113 children with suspected aspiration demonstrates that videofluoroscopy swallow studies (VFSS) significantly altered feeding management compared to clinical feeding evaluation alone, with 33% showing silent aspiration. Post-VFSS implementation led to increased oral feeding rates and reduced respiratory admissions and antibiotic use over the following year.
