Implementation of enhanced recovery protocols reduces opioid use in pediatric laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery

Retrospective study of 606 pediatric patients demonstrates that enhanced recovery protocols for laparoscopic cholecystectomy significantly reduce opioid use both postoperatively and at discharge without increasing complications or return visits. ERP-compliant patients used 86% less morphine equivalents and required no discharge narcotics in 86% of cases.
