Transanal endorectal approach for the treatment of idiopathic rectal prolapse in children: Experience with the modified Delorme's procedure
Topic overview
This retrospective study of 14 pediatric patients (ages 2-17) demonstrates that the modified Delorme's transanal procedure effectively treats idiopathic rectal prolapse with zero recurrences and no complications during 15-68 month follow-up. The perineal approach avoids nerve injury risks associated with transabdominal techniques while maintaining fecal continence.
