How should we treat representative neonatal surgical diseases with congenital heart disease?

Retrospective study of 275 neonatal surgical cases finds 13% have concomitant congenital heart disease, with significantly higher mortality (22% vs 1.3%). Cyanotic complex heart disease carries greatest risk, with most deaths occurring from hemodynamic deterioration in the post-operative period after non-cardiac surgery.
