Predictors of clinical response of esophageal dilatations in pediatric population

Retrospective study of 663 esophageal dilatation procedures in 111 pediatric patients identifies key prognostic factors: strictures <2cm in the middle esophagus have better outcomes, while airway compromise and prior feeding surgery predict treatment failure. Overall effectiveness was 49% with 1.9% complication rate, primarily perforation.
