Preoperative spinal angiography decreases risk of spinal ischemia in pediatric posterior thoracic tumor resection

Routine preoperative spinal angiography before pediatric posterior thoracic tumor resection identifies high-risk vascular anatomy and prevents postoperative paraplegia. Since implementing PSA protocol after one paraplegia case, no spinal ischemia events occurred in 14 patients, with imaging guiding surgical decisions and alternative treatment strategies.
