Nomogram for the Estimation of Intestinal Necrosis Risk in Incarcerated Inguinal Hernia in Infants under 6 Months

Researchers developed a validated nomogram using four clinical factors—vomiting, platelet count, C-reactive protein, and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio—to predict intestinal necrosis risk in infants under 6 months with incarcerated inguinal hernia. The model demonstrated strong diagnostic performance (AUC 0.918) and enables surgeons to stratify severity and optimize emergency treatment decisions for this high-risk population.
