Bio-impedance spectroscopy for total body water assessment in pediatric surgical patients: A single center pilot cohort study

Pilot study of 20 pediatric surgical patients demonstrates bio-impedance spectroscopy is feasible and well-tolerated for bedside total body water assessment, though wide limits of agreement with traditional intake/output methods limit interchangeable use. Findings suggest further research needed to establish BIS role in pediatric perioperative fluid monitoring.
