Burden of pilonidal disease and improvement in quality of life after treatment in adolescents

Study of 101 adolescent pilonidal disease patients demonstrates that minimally invasive treatment (laser epilation ± trephination) significantly improves quality of life across all domains, with only 6% recurrence. Pre-treatment impact was substantial: 66% reported moderate-to-severe effects on daily activities, with older patients and non-Hispanic populations experiencing worse baseline QOL.
