Is There Gender (In)Equality in Pediatric Surgery? An Online Survey on Gender-Related Career Opportunities

Survey of 182 pediatric surgeons in German-speaking countries reveals significant gender disparities in career advancement despite balanced overall representation. Women predominantly hold junior positions and perceive fewer advancement opportunities than male colleagues, with barriers including maternity-related absences, unconscious bias, and gender stereotypes affecting leadership selection.
