Reduced complication rate after implementation of a detailed treatment protocol for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy with T-fastener fixation in pediatric patients: A prospective study
Topic overview
Prospective study of 82 pediatric patients showed that implementing a standardized treatment protocol for PEG-T placement significantly reduced complications, cutting operating time nearly in half (28 to 15 minutes) and dramatically decreasing early tube dislodgement (10% to 1%) and late T-fastener migration (13% to 1%).
