The presence of a neurodiverse disorder is associated with increased use of antegrade enema therapy in children with severe constipation: A study from the Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Learning Consortium (PCPLC)

Multi-center registry study examining bowel management in 372 children with severe constipation found that neurodiverse patients (autism/developmental delay) had higher rates of antegrade enema therapy use (33.7% vs 21.2%) compared to neurotypical peers. Results suggest early consideration of antegrade conduit placement may improve outcomes in this population with higher laxative failure rates.
