Bowel obstruction following pediatric abdominal cancer surgery

This retrospective study examined bowel obstruction following abdominal cancer surgery in 130 pediatric patients over 10 years, finding a 13.8% incidence rate. Preoperative radiation and longer operative times increased risk, while conservative management succeeded in 39% of cases and laparoscopy proved effective in 36% of surgical interventions without conversion or recurrence.
