Impact of disease-specific volume and hospital transfer on outcomes in gastroschisis

Multi-center prospective study of 4,663 newborns with gastroschisis across 159 US hospitals examining the relationship between surgical volume and clinical outcomes. Higher volume centers treated more complex cases but demonstrated lower mortality and shorter hospital stays, with hospital transfer after birth associated with increased complications.
