Intestinal malrotation in infants with omphalocele: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Topic overview
Systematic review of 3,888 infants found malrotation occurs in only 3.5% of omphalocele cases, regardless of defect size. Volvulus risk was higher in patients who underwent Ladd's procedure (8%) versus those who did not (1%), suggesting routine investigation for malrotation may not be warranted in this population.
