Incidence and prognosis of thyroid cancer in children: based on the SEER database

Population-based study using SEER data shows pediatric thyroid cancer incidence tripled from 1975-2016, with dramatic acceleration after 2005 driven primarily by small tumors and localized disease. Despite rising incidence, survival remains excellent at 97-99%, suggesting overdetection may contribute to increased rates and supporting cautious approach to avoid overtreatment in low-risk cases.
