Most children experience resolution of idiopathic pediatric rectal prolapse with bowel management alone

Retrospective study of 47 children with idiopathic rectal prolapse demonstrates that 93.6% achieved resolution through conservative bowel management alone, with median resolution time of 9 months. Only 3 patients required surgical intervention, supporting non-operative management as first-line treatment for pediatric rectal prolapse.
