GLOBAL DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE THROUGH VIRTUAL PLATFORMS: REFLECTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM APSA/IPEG

APSA and IPEG successfully transitioned their 2020 annual meetings to virtual formats during COVID-19, attracting 720 and 834 participants respectively with free registration and broad international reach. While virtual platforms increased accessibility and global participation, challenges included lack of networking opportunities, CME limitations, and financial losses from non-refundable in-person costs, leading both societies to recommend hybrid conference models for future meetings.
