Comparison of clinical outcomes after total transanal and laparoscopic assisted endorectal pull-through in patients with rectosigmoid Hirschsprung disease

Comparative study of 91 pediatric patients with rectosigmoid Hirschsprung disease found no difference in long-term bowel function between total transanal (TERPT) and laparoscopic (LERPT) pull-through techniques at median 7-year follow-up. However, LERPT patients required significantly more unplanned procedures under anesthesia (49% vs 28%), primarily for obstructive symptoms.
