Training low–middle-income (LMIC) pediatric surgeons in a high-income country (HIC) program

A Canada-Uganda partnership successfully trained three Ugandan surgeons through a customized 1-year competency-based pediatric surgery program, with all fellows achieving specialty certification and returning to clinical practice and leadership roles. This collaborative model demonstrates a reproducible approach to addressing global surgical capacity gaps through equitable educational partnerships.
