This survey of 368 families undergoing elective pediatric surgery found that families highly value functional and quality-of-life outcomes alongside clinical complications, with 72% wanting comprehensive information on all patient-reported outcomes. Families preferred pamphlets and websites preoperatively but direct communication postoperatively, highlighting the need for personalized, contemporary risk communication tools in pediatric surgical practice.
