Pilot Implementation of Opioid Stewardship Measures Using the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program-Pediatric Platform

This pilot study integrated 19 novel opioid-related data elements into the NSQIP-P platform at a pediatric hospital, demonstrating feasibility with high completion rates and efficient abstraction times. Analysis of 878 surgical patients aged 5-18 revealed that 36% received opioid prescriptions at discharge, with predictors including older age.
