Stapled versus hand-sewn intestinal anastomosis in pediatric patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Systematic review of 633 pediatric cases comparing stapled versus hand-sewn intestinal anastomosis found no significant differences in complication rates including leakage, stricture, or ileus. Stapled technique demonstrated shorter operative time in infants under 1 year while maintaining comparable safety profile to traditional hand-sewn methods.
