High ligation in adolescents: Is it enough?

Retrospective study of 267 inguinal hernia repairs in adolescents (ages 12-18) using high ligation without mesh found a 6% recurrence rate over median 3.1-year follow-up. Patients with cardiac or gastrointestinal comorbidities had significantly higher recurrence risk and should receive appropriate counseling.
