Major stoma related morbidity in young children following stoma formation and closure: A retrospective cohort study

Retrospective study of 336 children under three years shows 39% experienced major complications from stoma procedures, with ileostomy patients at 2.5-2.7x higher risk than colostomy patients. Common complications included high-output stoma, prolapse, anastomotic leakage, and adhesive obstructions during 6-year median follow-up.
