Infectious complications after tracheoplasty for congenital tracheal stenosis: a retrospective comparative study

This retrospective study of 47 pediatric patients identified risk factors for infectious complications following tracheoplasty for congenital tracheal stenosis. Low body weight, prolonged surgical and bypass times, and extended postoperative intubation were significantly associated with a 25.5% infection rate, including empyema and mediastinitis in 10.6% of cases.
