Postoperative complications and long-term outcomes in Currarino syndrome

This retrospective study of 10 Currarino syndrome patients reveals high rates of postoperative complications (80% early, predominantly transient dysuria) and significant long-term morbidity, with 40% requiring rectal irrigation and 30% needing intermittent catheterization. Severity of sacral dysplasia and tumor size correlate with worse functional outcomes, particularly intractable constipation and dysuria.
