Compensatory Sweating after Thoracoscopic Sympathectomy for Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis In Children: Are there Patient-Related Risk Factors?

Retrospective study of 41 pediatric patients undergoing thoracoscopic sympathectomy for primary focal hyperhidrosis found compensatory sweating occurred in 41% at 3 months, decreasing to 32% by 6 months. Severe axillary hyperhidrosis was associated with dorsolumbar compensatory sweating development, while age, gender, and BMI showed no correlation.
