Intrathoracic prosthesis in children in preventing post-pneumonectomy syndrome: Its role in congenital single lung and post-pneumonectomy situations

Retrospective study of 24 children who received intrathoracic tissue expanders to prevent postpneumonectomy syndrome, either after pneumonectomy or with congenital single-lung physiology. Results showed no operative deaths, with most patients achieving improved respiratory function through multidisciplinary plastic and cardiothoracic surgical collaboration.
