Effect of intraoperative fluid type on postoperative systemic inflammatory response and end-organ dysfunction following total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation in children

Retrospective study comparing half-normal saline versus lactated Ringer's solution during total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation in 43 pediatric patients. Intraoperative fluid type did not significantly affect postoperative SIRS or acute kidney injury rates, though SIRS was highly prevalent across both groups in the early postoperative period.
